I posted this in the "Hardware" sub-forum, dont think im getting enough exposure in there.. So heres my second attempt.
Im a current film student coming from an dvx100/JCV hm100 (what we use at school). I want to make my first HD cam purchase. Looks like alot of people are happy with there GH1's and id like to maybe give it a try. My plan is to find a used "hackable" GH1, throw some hardware on to make it more user friendly and have some fun. I will be doing audio separately. I like doing handheld stuff, especially low shots. Short films with the "film" look is what im after. Budget: No more then $4k.
My question to you guys is:
What sort of things do I need to know about GH1?
Is the GH1 right for me? Other DSLR cam i should be looking at?
Whats the popular configuration for rail system/mounts, Fallow Focus, Matte Box, LCD?
I know there is a ton of stuff out there and everyone has different needs and tastes. Im asking 'generally' what are people using. Maybe you can post pictures of your own rig?
I dont know too much about this DSLR stuff so pardon my lack of knowledge.
Thanks guys,
-Kenny
