Has only tried to playback the MTS files on a PS3? I have a Canon HF100. I'll either store the MTS files on the PS3 hard drive or play them off a SD card (via USB port). It plays back as smooth as from the camera from a card, but adds a 1/2 second freeze frame between clips if removed from the AVCHD structure and stored on the PS3 (you get use to it after the a while). Curious if the GH1 files play the same.

I did a quick search and read a couple posts saying their GH1 clips were jerky from the PS3, but not from the camera. They didn't post any conclusion, but I'd like to think it was user error. I don't know if the HF100 and GH1 handle pull down, etc differently but want to check before shelling out $1500.
What setting were you shooting? I've read 720/60p at 1/60-120th is the smoothest.

I was under the assumption that through the hdmi, the camera will only output 1080i. I don't know if that means it's full res, or if it's 1440x1080i or if the menu lies and it's really 1920x1080p. ??
I played some mts files right off the memory card on a ps3 to a projector and it looked glorious. I noticed a couple hiccups, I think, but it was very smooth overall.
