GH1 Anamorphic Workflow

Hi,

What settings are people using to work with widescreen Anamorphic AVCHD footage from GH1 in Final Cut Pro? I am using the LA7200 adapter (1.33x) and I can't seem to get a good looking de-squeeze. What's working for others?

Thanks,
Andre

am about to do tthe same...am just looking for step up ring to fit my anamorphic attachment. will be interested how we can integrate that within 16:9 frame in my timeline

set pixel aspect ratio 1.33 in media clip property on timeline /as i'm not FCP user - can't explain detailed, but based on user manual must use next controls: Pixel Aspect (selector) , Anamorphic(checkmark) /

Hi guys. No work flow necessary. (No sarcasm...honestly) The only thing you need to do is size your video appropriately. If it's a 2x anamorphic lens, you size the height as 50%. DONE. If it's a 1.5x...then you size the video height as 75%. DONE. Good luck guys! Have fun.

Thanks guys. Got it working. Yes you go in Final Cut -> Under Viewer, Motion tab -> Distort -> Aspect Ratio. Then set it till it looks right. Love it.

Question: those of you shooting with LA7200 - -what mattebox do you use? I'm looking for one now.

Yes, this will work if you want to render to a fixed horizontal width, such as FHD 1920 pixels. However, if you use this technique with a 2x anamorphic lens, you'll wind up with a vertical height of only 540 lines, which is significantly less than HD resolution.

To render a 720-line video, for example, you'd need to scale a 2x anamorphic FHD video by 66.7% vertically and 133.3% horizontally. Then you'd need to crop the resulting 2560-pixel-wide frame down to your chosen width (depending on the desired widescreen aspect ratio).
