GH1/2 and HMC40 - How well do they match?

I'm thinking of getting an HMC40 to use alongside my GH13 (or possibly GH2). I shoot news features and short docs. Last story I used GH13 and the editor I sent the PKG into was very impressed with the footage. But I can see the l,imitations on some stories.

Size/weight of HMC40 is right, decent audio with XLR (for voiceovers, etc), same codec. Only problem is lack of NTSC/PAL switchability (but I think when PAL needed I can shoot at 24p and conform to 25p - I presume I can do this with an exported sequence, to avoid doing it clip by clip). But the only other option at this size and price point is JVC HM100 - less sharpness at 1080, different codec, and maybe harder to match with GH13.

Question is this - how well do GH1 and HMC40 video match in terms of sharpness, contrast, etc. Can they be used in the same project if outputting 1080p? Barry? Stephen?

Apologies for the long post ...

Happy holidays!

Does anyone out there use a GH1 or GH2 and the HMC40? Any tips on how the footage cuts together?

I used the HMC40 and GH13. In bright daylight at wide they were similar. The HMC40 is very sharp. I prefered the image from the GH1 though as the shallow dof gave a more pleasing more film look. It was also a bit warmer with the stock 14-140 lens. I sold my HMC40 and am getting two GH2's but guess I'll hold on to the GH13 as a backup.

Very helpful! I'd imagine I'd only be using the HMC40 in bright daylight, considering its reputation in low light.

So minor correction is post sounds like all that would be needed ...
