gh1 12fos

This may be a vert dumb question... if so I apologize in advance and ignore me haha.

Mostly I will be using my hacked gh1 for experimental music video work.

One thing I will be doing is shooting things that will be performed in half time, and be doubled in speed in post for effect.

This got me wondering about the possibility of some custom high bit rate settings.

Would it be possible for me to tweak the cam to shoot 12fps, and double the quality of the c settings?

It seems mathematically possible in terms of the cameras computing power, but perhaps there are some things that would make this a useless experiment.

Thanks

Sounds good, but I dont believe you can do it in Ptools, however you should ask Vitally (Tester13). Have you tried using the camera with time-lapse fx?

no I haven't tried that, will have to look it up ans see what frame rates it offers.

I was guessing, the benefit of doing it as a move is that i can record with the slowed down half time audio track that i am locking to, making things easier when i bring it back to 24 fps

When using a 5D a bit back we were enjoying shooting stills at around 12fps, but it had its limitations. Thats what got me thinking about doing it as a extremely high quality movie with the gh1.

as I said, i am such a novice I am not even sure there would be any value to this approach, so i thought getting some feedback from the group would be best before approaching the developer with something potentially silly.

Shoot in 720 mode and set shutter speed to 1/15 or 1/10 and you'd end up with something looking roughly like 12 fps. See 'A Kindling Light' in my sig link for a more pronounced version of the effect done with 1/2 second shutter.

Actually when thinking a step further; shoot in 1080 with 1/25 s shutter and remove every second frame when editing (filter called something like 'strobe' or 'posterize time' depending on which editor) and you'll end up with a take looking exactly like it was shot at 12 fps and then slowed down to real time.
