GH-1 Video twitch

Has anyone ever come across a video "twitch" while recording? I'm on the original Panasonic firmware (for now). I was shooting 1080p on a tripod...completely static shot. As I was reviewing the footage there seems to be a "twitch" in the video as if someone accidentally hit or bumped the camera (and no one was near the camera). It comes about every 30 sec. Anyone getting this too or is it just mine?
Thanks

Wild guess. I had something like that, not every 30-seconds though, when I mistakenly tapped the shutter release thinking I was stopping/starting the recording. That causes the camera to refocus which looked like a weird twitch to me.

Yes I do have Image Stabilizer on and AFC. Should I not have those on? I think I could understand the I.S. doing that.

If you're on a tripod you shouldn't have IS on. AFC tends to do miss focus before it finds it, that's just how the system works. Manual is better when you have the option, but since you siad no one was near the camera it sounds like you might be using it unmanned. In which case you'll probably need to leave autofocus on, just be aware that it won't be perfect. But definitely no IS.

I don't know why I never thought of turning off IS when I'm on a tripod. I'm going to test that tomorrow with it on and off to see if that is where its coming from...which I think it is. I find myself in a situation sometimes where I have to have the camera unmanned. Is AFS any better than AFC?

LOL.. I was doing some tests today outside of my garage on a tripod and kept seeing the frame float up and down when zoomed in.. I was like "wtf is with these setting that are causing this floating frame?" So I went back in the house, made a new patched .bin and tried again.. SAME THING!.. Finally noticed IS was on.. 'DOH!

It's easy to forget. As for focus, the only way to get totally reliable shots for long periods (where focus has to change, obviously) is to have the camera manned.

I wish I was able to have the camera with someone at the controls but I did an interview on my own and needed to be away from the camera. The subject usually doesn't move that much so I can sometimes manually focus and have a good DOF so that I can leave it there without focus moving...but I don't trust that sometimes.
Thanks for your help!
