GF2 Two Questions. Hack and Second/Backup Cam ???

I happened to stumble across the GF2 and see it is priced at $699 with the 14mm f2.5 lens. The lens I know lists in the middle/upper $300s, so that turns the kit into a $350 lens and a $350 body. It's a 12mp cam, the same size but different configuration than the GF1.

So the first question really is more about usability for a second or third or whatever cam ??? Anyone have any experiences, good bad or indifferent ??? I have GH2s ordered so I would be trying to supplement those with this, unless that idea sucks.

The next question would be about any possible hack. I didn't follow the GF1 hack at all so have to knowledge of what happened there. I assume the same hack as the GH1 was used on the GF1 too. If that assumption is correct, would a GH2 hack probably work on a GF2 too ??? Or are they significantly different enough to have completely separate firmwares ???

Thanks for the input !!!

LOL, it's not even known whether the GH2 can ever be hacked and you are out on a limb on a limb. But if you do get the GF2, please tell us all about it!

You betcha I'm right out there !!! :-)

I think it was in one of the threads you responded to discussing a GF1 you had, that kinda planted the seed that had me receptive when I saw this GF2.

But not having followed the GF1 and how/why it was hackable, it is a question where I probably am "throwing a Hail Mary pass" no doubt. :-)

As I did some brief investigation, I learned that both GFs have about the same number of pixels from the sensor, yet the GF2's sensor has been improved. This kinda leads me to believe maybe the GF and GH shared the same 12mp sensor and firmware allowing the GF to also become hackable??? Also if that assumption is correct, I am going to say that my "Hail Mary pass" of the 12mp GF and the 16mp GH both being hacked by the same project has a chance of "slim at best".

But heck, I'm not a hack writer so just thought I would let that ball fly and see if maybe someone who is, might share some wisdom on actual probability/improbability.

I just find the potential prospect of having a brand new Panny B/C/D/Q/Y whatever cam for $350 after deducting the value of the lens pretty enticing.

Update:

Panny Direct (there's a nightmare waiting to happen) has these with the 14mm pancake listed on their Facebook Fans page as back ordered yet orderable, at only $595. Now we're getting stupid cheap as long as you get that 14mm lens.

Update #2:

I decided what the heck and went back through the Panny Facebook fan page and ordered one anyways. Even though we have all heard the horror stories I figured I'd give it a shot, the worst that happens is I go into Customer Support hel l. After entering all the name etc I get to the add the Credit Card page. The price now is $525 + tax and $2. shipping. I backed it up and ordered a pair instead.
