Getting started

Hi !

Welcome aboard. I wanted to share my experience as a videographer. I came from a photography background, having used SLR since 1987 and now on to dSLR. You can learn a lot of basic skills that will come in handy in videography. Afterall, film is just a photography in motion.

I found it a bit easier to bring forward my exposure, composition, lighting know how over to video making. If you already have these basic understanding, the rest are just practice. Having said that, creating even a mediorce film is not as easy as people think.

Ever since, I got on board on DVXUser, I started to realise one thing which is fundamental in video making (either short story, doco, music video, etc) which is storyboarding. Even in photography, you can't just wing it. You need to prepare what you need to shoot. Knowing what you need beforehand and realising it on the actual process itself if i think paramount.

The technical aspect of video (compression, web hosting) are purely that, technical and can be learn easily from the many threads found here.

Btw, nice BMX footage !!, Cheers !!
