Hi,
I am just beginning to use the panasonic and I have a few questions about setup.
1) How do I set the auto gain control to zero?
2) are there recording settings besides the dvcprohd 60i?
3) is there a shutter speed between 1/12 and 1/60 and how do I set it?
4) if I do NOT want skin tone detail to show up in the footage, do I set 'skin tone detail' to on/off?
Thank you in advance!

Auto gain for picture? There isn't any. There's no auto gain unless you put the whole camera in auto mode.
2) of course -- avc-intra 100, avc-intra 50, dvcpro-hd, dvcpro50, dvcpro, and dv, in 50i, 60i, 24p, 25p, 30p, an dvariable frame rates.
3) yes, of course, there's slow shutter and syncro scan. It's all in the manual or in the book (if you're a USA customer you should have received my book in the box)
4) skin tone dtl ON means soften the skin. skin tone dtl OFF means don't affect the skin at all.

Thank you Barry! Sorry, but I realized I left out an important detail in this question: 'are there recording settings besides the dvcprohd 60i?' I meant, are there any HD recording settings besides the dvcprohd 60i?
Also, about the auto gain issue, I don't have the camera in auto mode, but the default seems to be at 6 and I can't edit it, do you have any idea what the issue may be with this?
Thanks again!

You can record HD in AVC-Intra at 100mbps or 50mbps, or in DVCPRO-HD, at 1080/60i, 50i, 30p, 25p, or 24p.

I don't know what you mean about auto gain. I assume you mean in the AUTO SW menu? That's only applicable if you slide the auto/manual switch to full auto.
