Getting my camera over the audience...

Hi guys,

I'm shooting a live event where people will be possibly standing....

Its an outdoor shoot in Tompkins Square Park (nyc) So I need to get over the audience and also because the stage is raised I'd like to be up a little higher any way so I don't have to shoot at a weird upward angle the whole show.

Does any one have any suggestions for a cheap, portable, way to get me raised up about 3-5 feet?

How about a step ladder with a tripod mount clamped to it or two ladders you can configure as a scaffold (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100064251)?

a monopod with an external monitor and remote control (a la bebob or varizoom)

a jib arm and an external monitor as well as a remote control would do the trick

check the audio production team, they might have some risers laying around. ask them for one.
