Getting MXF files to run smoothly.

Ok, I recently tried exporting a 720 MXF files into my school's Avid. Their system is a P4 2.6 gHz with 1 gig of RAM and a 32 meg. Video card. Sadly, it ran pretty slowly.

At home I have a AMD Atholon 64 3200 with 1 gig of RAM and a 256 meg video card. Do you think I'll be able to edit the footage OK on that? Would another gig of RAM perhaps fix things if I can't? Would a Mojo speed things up? Also, could the slower speed be becuase the footage was 30fps and thus I had to create a 29.976 HDV project and perhaps applying an HDV codec slowed it down (as I've heard they need more processing power)? Thanks.

I prefer dual processors if anything, but try it out first of all. If your HD video seems to run, then fine. But for better performance dual processors is better, and 2 gb ram. Video cards don't do much, but I can be mistaken. I just ordered a quadro 256 mb card. Comparing to a 64mb quadro card, I'll let you know.

It takes me 2 hours to export M2T files of a 30 min clip. So, HD sucks.

I currently have a Dell Precision 470 - Dual xeon 3.0 mhz - 2gb DDR2 3200 ram - 74gb raptor 10k hd.
