getting into editing...Premiere Elements?

Hi
Just getting into editing and was wondering if anyone could recommend Adobe Premiere Elements.
Checking the wiki the advantage it seems to have over Apple's Final Cut Express is support for common AE plugins, as well as the fact it was just upgraded last September.

Thoughts?

I've been using Elements for several years as my primary DV editing app for the kind of simple stuff I typically do, including a couple of political TV commercials. Quite useful for the money and pretty powerful.
I don't like the "consumerized" interface of more recent versions so much.

Currently I am playing with the free open source Beta version of Lightworks. Much steeper learning curve there though. It is definitely a pro app by comparison, but fully extensible to a high end multi-station large project system.

Have you had a look at Edius NEO2 with booster pack great product Less prone to crashing and is able perform well on a low end machine ,I use the full Edius version and CS5 and do most my work in Edius and the stuff edius cannot do i edit in CS5. I am not saying the PE9 is bad , it has a lot of very useful features.

I considered the Elements option, but discarded it because my magic bullet plugins (mojo, quick looks) wouldn't work with it (I downloaded the demo and tested it when the new version came out a few months ago)

you may want to consider getting enrolled on some educational program and getting the academic version; I think you still break the EULA if you use it for commercial purposes, though...

Thanks for all the replies!
I have decided the prudent approach is to learn as much as possible about the different editors, perhaps use one of the 30 day trial versions, and hold off making any commitment until March, when we'll know for sure whether Apple is going to release an update to FCP that might knock the socks off of Premiere...not holding my breath though!
