Getting HD Footage To Your NLE - HVX vs the PMW-EX1

I have been working with tape my whole life and it is time to change.
I am thinking about moving to either the Panasonic HVX200-A or the Sony PMW-EX-1.
I know their prices out of the box and I know they both shoot HD footage.
But I don't know what equipment, if any, is precisely required to shoot HD footage, record it, and get it to my NLE which happens to be FinalCut.
I know about P2 and SxS and so on.

But if I buy an HVX200-A vs buying a PMW-EX1, what additional expenses and equipment must I automatically add on to each in order to functionally record a reasonable amount of HD footage and get it to my NLE without additional compression?

Basically it would be the same sort of scenario with either device, you will need HDDs for the in field offload. You will need to add a duel-adapter, www.duel-systems.com to offload the P2 cards to the mac. And then you just need to think the rest of it through. How are you going to archive? Some folks archine on hard Drives, some on DLT tape, but most obvioulsy you can't keep it on the cards, whether SxS or P2. Continue to read through this board and look in the articles section for more details on the workflow on the P2.

Hope this helps,

Jan
