Getting Haze Light Rays in This Location:

I went scouting today, took a couple of pictures at sunset. Am I right in thinking this should be enough to get a nice haze ray effect when hazed up? I'm even thinking its dark enough that my 1k fresnels would have something to add...

You will certainly get a little bit of a glow if you haze it out...how long the sun will stay in that direction is also something you should plan for. You can probably use those 1k's for a warm bounce to bring up the value of the room.

But if you could get a 4x4 shiny/mirror board, and a combo stand that you can put up at a higher angle you can get yourself a sunbeam if you need something a bit harder without access to an HMI par.

But if it's hard to get an HMI in your city, then perhaps its hard to get a shiny board and combo stand. You could try and get some of that flexible mylar type mirror (in silver or gold) and tape it down to something and get that in position and get some value out of it. Hopefully you have some MacGyver skills.

I have been debating doing just as you said! Only with a mirror... Decided against it cause of the pain of transporting it but may attempt it with my 3 meter long silver 3-1 reflector attached to 2 c stands. Cheers again for the tips! Just ordering a c300d aputure to help out. 575w hmi equiv.

I haven't used any Apurture lights, but I have yet to run across an LED fixture that matched the "HMI equivalency" stated by the manufacturer. They're usually closer to half, maybe 3/4 of the stated equivalency. Just a heads up.

They say its close to an 800w joker with the fresnel but independent testing has shown 575w :) Pretty amazing for a 1100 usd light that's so small! Also portable, taking vmount batteries.

If it’s third party testing, then I’d be more apt to believe that. And yes, it is pretty amazing what we have available to us now in affordable, portable, battery powered lighting.
