Getting DVD footage into FCP

So I am doing a short doc for a local law firm and they are giving me a ton of news footage that they want to use. It is all in DVD format. What is the best way to get those clips into FCP. I knew at one point there was a program like DVDxDV or something like that but I can't seem to find it. Or if there is another suggestion? Ooo- perhaps handbrake could convert to QT file and I could do it that way... any help is appreciated.

yea they are both wicked softwares but i find handbreak to be a little quicker. Another software is DVDxDV which you have to buy but it literary converts footage for FCP so you don't have to render it or anything

Hate to bring this up, but have you received releases on the news footage from the law firm?

Because that isn't the law firm's footage to use.

Just a head's up.

Good to know. That will save me some time in the future.

thanks for the heads up but yeah we got clearance to use the footage... thanks for that though...
for some reason when i use handbrake to convert to QT files, FCP won't accept them for some reason... I tried "normal", "quicktime", and "ps3" and FCP will not accept any of the QT files.
i am going to give streamclip a whirl... if i can't get that to work, i suppose i can pay for dvxdvd
