Getting correct color from F3 to TV LOGIC VFM-056W

I have been using the F3 with the TV LOGIC VFM-056W monitor since September, but I can't seem to get accurate looking color on the monitor. Compared to the onboard F3 screen, it looks completely different.
I tired toggling between the internal color temps on the TV LOGIC, but it doesn't seem to change the accuracy. Am I missing something here? What's the trick?

-What makes you think the onboard F3 LCD is so accurate :-). It's not terribly.

-I've never seen an on onboard monitor that was even close to accurate for less than $3K

-The trick to calibrating monitors is using RGB gain controls to get the white point, and RGB bias controls to get the black balanced. The best monitors will also have RGB gamma controls to get the greys right as well. If you don't have those controls, it's a crapshoot using RGB gains and hopping the channels track correctly in the rest of their ranges.

If it was me, I'd get the thing next to the most known accurate monitor you can find, twiddle with the controls you do have to match as close as it can (a monitor in this price range will most likely never match that great), write it down, and call it a day.

This sounds like sound advice. Not sure how intricate the TVLOGIC's color controls get, but I will check it out.

And yes, the F3 monitor is just so-so, but it seems closer to the final output when I'm in post.

Here is the tried and true method. Feed the color bar chart from your camera to your monitor. (This is the use intended for color bars.) Use the "blue only", "blue gun", or color check feature on your monitor. If your monitor doesn't have that put dark blue gel on top. Then you will compare the brightness of the bands of color.

Sure its old school, but it works. Keep in mind that even when calibrated monitors vary.

Blue only is on the TV LOGIC VFM-056W and WP versions. Look in the 4th icon down on the left side of the menu for 'Display Video'. If you want to adjust colors see page 11 of the manual. This monitor has enough adjustments to dial it in. Its just that there is no accurate auto adjust.
