Getting a good 4:3 image

hey All,

here's my question.. lets say i wanted to shoot a commercial for tv .. which would have to be 4:3, what would be the best settings? I know that the regular 4:3 50i of the hvx in miniDV mode is not that great so im thinking of going 16:9 and zooming the image in post so its fits the 4:3 frame, maybe using the dv50 codec..

the thing is.. lets say i wanted a video look, would i shoot 50i? or 50p? would 50p give the same video look without the interlaced jaggy lines, or is it just used for slow motion? This will probably be shown on regular 4:3 interlaced tv's but if its shown on a progressive monitor, would i get the jaggyness of interlaced footage using 50i?

ok thanx Barry, would the resulting 50i video show interlaced artifacts on a progressive monitor? Also im sure it would be a much sharper and cleaner image rather than shooting 50i from the start right? I would do some tests myself but i dont have a p2 card yet.. and im just wondering if its worth the wait rather than shooting 50i on miniDV now, as i want to get the sharpest and cleanest possible video look @ 4:3 the hvx can do.

thanx again..
