Getting a Dvx-100b

I already know this has probably been asked a 100+ times by now but what is a fair price for a 100b?

What issues should I look for and how many hours on the heads are too many?

Look on eBay - search for dvx100b, click on completed listings - see the prices they have sold for.

2000 hours is too many. 1000 hours is a lot but still has head life, but shows much general usage. More common is around 250 hours - still many years of life left.

When you say "fair" I am assuming you mean "Fair Market Value" for a used DVX100B as opposed to going rates for a new one.
If that is the case check out the Marketplace here on this site. Use the "Search this Forum" function. Ebay is good but you might consider making the Marketplace your first stop. It can surprise you--great deals to be had there and a great source of info. Two issues you might want to consider are hours (heads of course) and if it has been dropped, wet or scratched. If you are patient, you should not have any problem finding something under 100hrs in new condition. Just make sure the seller has a history on this site and yes, by all means "search" the posting history of the seller before you commit.
