Getting a cheap DVX100b?

well i have come to the conclusion that I am going to get a dvx100b, i thought alot about getting something that works in HD but realized that i would have to soup up my system just to be able to work with it, then exporting it in HD would be a completely different story....

so does anyone know where i can get a new dvx100b for a reasonable price? i went down to B and H and theirs are about $2400, and i would like to spend a bit less.
 
$2400 is pretty much the going rate for a new DVX100B. You can find "Gray Market" cameras for less, but you'll only get screwed.

B&H is one of the most honest and reliable dealers out there and you won't get hurt by dealing with them.

I bought my DVX100B from Newegg, but i don't know if they are still selling them.

You might get a used DVX100B for less, but you really won't know what you're getting, condition-wise.

If you can afford it, go with the B&H deal.
 
I know you said you wanted a new camera, but you may want to consider a used one with low hours. There are some good deals in the marketplace for under 2k.
 
yeah you should definitely check out used cams, i picked mine up for $1800 with three years of a four year warranty left on it. plus it only had 62 hours on the heads. but make sure you don't buy from one of those online photo shops with the ridiculously low prices because IT IS A SCAM! using the marketplace here is best or going to a shop in person. if you buy from the marketplace here, check out the persons profile to make sure they've been a member for a while and check their previous posts (for customer satisfaction in previous transactions). good luck!
 
I got mine for 1500 (cdn). It had a buttload of hours on it (160+).

But, with the extra 100 hours I have added on to it it is still going without a hitch. I haven't had a problem yet (knock on wood).

I made sure I had some time too play around with it and got it from a reputable dealer in town before I bought it.

Anyone have any maintenance tips on keeping the dvx100b going strong (or should that be a separate post in itself)?
