MY favorite dvx colors Start at about 1:06 on this link http://vimeo.com/7605319 and i was wondering if anyone had any idea what settings can be utilized to help achieve this picture, i have experimented with the dvx alot but i cannot seem to get this look / great popping colors and if anyone knows what scene files may be used to get these colors i would appreciate it .

Go to the Technical section of the DVX100 forum....and in that section is a sticky thread on scene settings/in camera looks...many with examples/pictures. There are several user created looks that might be what you are looking for. I would suggest some but....go take a look and you'll be able to pick what's right for your eyes. Well....one of the very first ones looks close to what you want so

It's called 8 Ball High Press....the colors are very punchy and the creator said he likes vivid colors

I'm thinking it's a competent cameraman, not anything in camera that gives it this look. It looks like it was shot on a bright cloudless day maybe a little after mid day to give it real even lighting. The fact that the guy is wearing a red shirt and shoes in a dingy yellow environment is probably what makes it pop to you, not any in camera magic. There was probably a bit of cc in post to help it along, but It's rare that an image looks good just because of camera settings.

I agree with you about the shooter being the most important aspect....but the DVX, HMC150 or XHA1 shot without tweaking the colors can be very flat...esp the XHA1. Tweaking/modifying the camera settings IS part of being a competent cameraman IMO. These are not Handycams.
