What the requirement to watch a preview of the timeline (I mean, to see the result of the editing) on a external monitor (ntsc reference monitor).

Actually, I have two lcd monitor connected on an ATI 9600XT (I know that this videocard is incompatible, its why I will change this card pretty soon, but I want to be sure which one I will purchase before).

I don't plan to purchase a Quadro FX card yet. What is the best alternative? I heard that it's possible with a 6600GT card, but what the setting do you apply? (Clone mode in the driver?)

Traditionally the method for previewing the timeline to a monitor is to go out through Firewire to a decoder or a Mojo. If you rig up a video card to playback through an Svideo port, then you get 1/4 resolution playback. If that's what you want go to the forums at www.avid.com and search for "McFly" (long story, but that became the nickname for this type of monitor preview).

Hope that helps.
