GH3 Get the GH3 Battery Grip... it's worth it.

Best accessory I have added to my GH3 is the battery grip. With the neckstrap around my shoulder and using the viewfinder you can get very steady level shots... the grip does just that... gives you great grip and better balance. The GH3 was missing this weight and extra grip. Also the extra function button and controls are really useful. Oh yes and you can double battery time.

Get it. Worth it.

I saw it for $200 the other day, but that's still way too much for a plastic grip. I'm waiting for the generic grips to come out not just for the price but also because the tripod mount is off-center on the OEM grip, so good luck mounting it on anything without it being misaligned.

I paid $199 B&H... not so expensive. The off center tripod mount makes no difference the way I shoot - not sure why this would cause a problem anyway.

But I feel the GH3 is too light and unbalanced for hand held work - inc. stills. The battery grip relly helps.

Oh, $199 isn't bad. It was $299 at launch, right? Now I'm thinking of picking one up, although waiting for a reliable 3rd party alternative wouldn't be bad either.

A small shoulder rig is better than ANY handholding you think you might be able to achieve. The battery grip for what it is, is beyond overpriced.....

With that said it has been Impossibly to find original Panasonic GH3 batteries , I had to order some aftermarket from overseas and it still hasn't arrived.

Love the battery grip but not digging the off centred thread. Cant use it on my pocket rig, well i can but its all of centred awkward. thats the only negative thing about it

I'd appreciate the extra mass but not the goofy battery system & offset 1/4-20 thread.

Instead I use the Pocket Rig.

I don't see Canon or Nikon selling grips at a lower price, so $200 seems to be pretty reasonable to me.

I always prefer shooting stills with a grip, especially having vertical controls when shooting portraits.

At first I thought your computer might be the issue, as Firefox has had a problem with Scareware, but Google's SafeBrowsing shows alerts too.

I sent a link to your post, & the report, to Ededelkrone.
