Here is what you need to upload:

1 Zip file containing the following named : username-realname-filmname.zip

1 Quicktime 16:9 h.264 less than 40mb.
1 Mpeg 2 (for the DVD) in 16:9 ratio either audio embedded or audio and video file
plus any BTS or featurettes or extended versions.

Question #1: this 16x9 ratio is referring to an anamorphic 16x9, right, not a 4:3 cropped to 16x9?

Question #2: At what resolution is the Mpeg2 supposed to be (SD or sub-SD), in pixels?

My apologies if these are dumb questions. Thanks.

Hey Jarred,

Just FYI, we've decided to make our KATRINA entry to DramaFest non-comp. It's too long and we don't want to cut it, so we will be exhibition only.

Would you prefer us to host it ourselves in this case? I am positive there is no way it will get under 40Mb. How did Sconce handle it with his 15 min entry to HorrorFest?

Thanks!

M

ok call me stupid...wait dont :) i can get a 16:9 mpg no problem and i can encode h.264 no problem, but i always get the black bars at top and bottom. when I change settings the video is not looking right.....

Rendering Question.....

Rendering Question.....

Hi,

I need some assistance from you guys.

I tried rendering the 1st 90 seconds of my film with quicktime (using VEGAS)... and the file is approx. 32MB. The settings can be found here.

http://www.rameshanthony.com/misc/qt_props.jpg

How can i render the movie that is about 6 mins to 40MB or under?

How can i remove the black bars? I am using the 16:9 aspect ratio

Please advise. Thanks much.

Is this full rez or an encoded file from the 40mb entry file.

what are you editing with, Michael?

Vegas BABY.... sorry:) sony vegas 6

I am doing the h.264 in quicktime pro

I am doing a uncompressed dump from vegas I shot in 4:3
if i take the 16:9 mpg and stick it in quicktime the file doesn't look so good. so i take the uncompressed file which has the black bars top and bottom but it looks great.

But it CAN have the black bars, as long as the file itself is 16x9. 16x9 is 1.77:1, but if youre, let's say,m using 2.35:1, you can submit a 1.77:1 (or 16x9) with (obviously) black bars to make it 2.35. Am I right?

Look at the thread from horrorfest posted above. I think I wrote instructions on how to do this in Vegas for that fest.

It's your audio settings. You need to bump those down. Try something like 22Hz and mono and a different audio compression codec.

I have rendered 5 minute clips that were 640x360 that came in around 50 megs.

And one other thing. Your render has to be h.264. It looked like you were using something else.

My version of Vegas has quicktime 6 in it and when i render out it is a very large file(for me that is) so i render out of Vegas uncompressed and then into quicktime 7 file size and picture look good(a little washed out but good) and thats fine and what i did last fest.. i was just trying to get those bars out cuz i'm an*l about stuff like that being an I.T. guy and Italian and all :) I mean i can get them out but my aspect is all screwy ....I will shut up now...god I ramble...man i'm still doing it....................
