get lossed zak

haha! what is this?

a HQ download will be available after the fest ends.

It's the zak forsman fan club
I started a Mattsand fan club but nobody would join

so are you happy with the results from the D90?
Still want to shoot your feature with it?
Mine's been pissing me off lately.....it really hurts when I compare my stills to my video.

i'm happy with it for *this* feature. but i expect that by the time i'm shooting my next project, the scarlet will be out (fingers crosses) and that will be my cam for a good long while.

I think by the time the scarlet comes out or soon after Nikon, Canon, or Panasonic will get their act together. Something like a D800 full frame with 1080p, manual control, 50-100mbps for around $3000.

you gunna go for fixed lens or 35mm frame?

i'm going for the s35 with a nikon mount most likely, unless i have the dough to invest in other lenses.

Perhaps something like this?:

Then, you probably won't need a follow focus, Zak :)

I'm feelin the same way. WAs going to splurge on the fixed 2/3rd, but ill only be trying to get the same depth as a 35mm frame size which will be difficult. One thing i did like however, was that the fixed lens had a remote control, i.e. wireless FF, etc... Very sick feature.

all of the DSMC line up can use the RED Remote, so no worries there (if I am understanding you.

There was a render posted recently of a shoulder mount configuration with an antenna... which is intriguing.

OK my funding for the film is going fairly well so can anyone tell me what a basic scarlet brain with a nikon mount is gonna cost ballpark? And is there any chance I can have it by june?

nm 7k summer 09.....not sure my funding is going THAT well

Haa, I was waiting for this thread to pop up here.

Zak, I noticed the film (at 720p) looked sharp and clean. Congrats on that. Did you apply de-stair stepping processes, or any noise reduction? Also, I saw you used a shoulder mount, did you compose off the rear LCD or did you have a monitor? Focus off the lens, or follow focus?

hey zak what lens were you using in the car?

I noticed there's some funky jello action happening on the actors face.

The D90 looks good but you gotta stabilize that *****

great stuff. as for noise reduction you did actually apply some by compressing it. wavelet compression is in fact a form of noise reduction in itself. part of the reason 5d footage looks so incredibly clean.

i wish i could post some clips from my feature to improve the member count of my own fanclub, but it's still a big secret. ;-)
