Get a load of this Craigslist ad.....

Why is this a terrible thing? Heck, they're paying more than I get at my day job. Granted, it's not HUGE pay, but it's pay. And nothing screams 'DANGER!' to me here. If I was out of work and happened to be a FCP whiz, I might give it a look-see.

I agree. While its not a job I would personally take I dont see this ad as being anything ridiculously awful like
"come work for us for 2 months, include your gear and we'll pay you $100 a week".
Don't get me wrong, its a very very low paying job for the situation but I could see some fresh, just out of interning,
early 20 year olds enjoying something like that.

I honestly can see why they would put the whole "no whiners allowed" thing as well.
I know if I took the job i'd be complaining before I stepped out of the vehicle ;) (not my kinda gig)

Granted it is low pay but at least they are being completely honest about everything. So many sleazy balls out there now promise the moon and deliver nothing to these kids.

You would fly from Germany to work in primitive conditions in the middle of the desert for $125/day?
Guess that counts you out Barry :)

Eventhough the fee is low.....I understand the not wanting to have b*tchers ,whiners & moaners on a crew especially going to a remote location !

The honesty is great and all, but the sheer lack of professionalism in a job post that shares a template with millions of others like it is the pitfall of the whole ad. You can demand a thick-skinned go-getter, as well as samples of their work, and still present a professional and formal advertisement. This is like reading the ramblings of a twelve year old's.

I would fit in that demographic and would still not take this job.

TThis is like reading the ramblings of a twelve year old's.

mmmm….maybe a little bit. But I would say they're fairly clear and up front about what they want. And I'm sure they will fill their roster.

Now OTOH, I am groaning at that $30 to make a 1 minute video proposition. Please.

It goes both ways. I've seen ads on Craigslist where people will shoot your wedding video for free or near enough to it so let's not get too mad at companies who go on there looking for cheap labor because that's where you're most likely to find it.

I don't think there's anything grossly wrong about the ad, it's just... well, like jscottprice said, it's kinda horribly written. Every other word is capitalized, and 90% of the listing is repeated variations of the same basic thought. It looked like some of my debate posts on other forums. <grin>

Only minus the OHMYGOD capitalization...

I would totally do it if I was in the area and knew Final Cut better. I need some adventure in my life.

Also, it sounds like the start to an awesome horror film. So, there's that...

They want no whiners and they bring starbucks, so at least I know these guys have their priorities straight.

Low budget = low pay or no pay. At least they pay.

If I was an editor and didn't have anything else on my slate I'd probably do it. I'd be lucky to find a gig like that where I live.
