Genuine or a Scam?

Hi people :-)

i'm in the UK and am looking for a standard 2nd hand DVX....will settle for the 100 but i found this on Gumtree:

its the DVX100B and its on for only £650! is that too good to be true? just waiting to find out whether it's still under waranty....

PROBLEM: the fact that he's spelled it Vidio instead of Video!!!! doesnt fill me with confidence!

any advice?

$1266.85... I would say it's a scam, or just a really crappy camera. My advice: proceed with caution, and if you live close enough, meet the indivdual in person, and if it turns out to be real, write him a check and thank God for such an awesome deal.
 
i asked why so low....apparently him + camera are in greece. Its UK version so he cant use it...but was some complex way of paying in which TNT send it..then release payment to him when i've checked it. all sounds too complicated and/or dodgy to me. Maybe am missing out on a HUGE bargain....but just seems risky.
 
Hmm, that sounds sort of fishy. If I was in your shoes, I would tell him to list it on ebay as a buy-it-now for 650 pounds, then send me the link to it. I would then click buy-it-now and send my payment via paypal. When he got the payment, he could ship the item. That's only what I would do though. Of course, if he claims to not know how to use ebay, or you don't know how, then that presents just as many problems.

Honestly, it's up to you. I think it smells fishy, but it's not my choice. Also, the camera might have a ton of hours on it and that's why the price could be so low, but like I said, it's up to you. I would rather miss a good deal than to miss 650 pounds though.
 
Am I wrong in assuming that Greece and the UK are both PAL? How can a "UK" version of the DVX not work anywhere else that PAL is used?
 
sounds a lil fishy to me really. Would much rather find a 2nd hand standard dvx100 here from a proper dealer.....its just the price! lol......why can't the US be PAL too?? such great deals on dvx100's on ebay!
