One thing that concerns me with the 150 and 170 is that they do not offer genuine 24p capture. Both cameras capture only 60p, with other frame rates derived from that for the actual recording.
In my experience, the most telling look of film is the 24 fps frame rate and associated motion blur. (I'm very well convinced of this after hundreds of hours of testing, so please don't meander down a path refuting such.) But how is that blur to occur when the camera is capturing at 60 fps?
I wonder if anyone has any experience comparing the 150 or 170 to an HD camera that can do a genuine 24p capture, and what your thoughts are on the differences.
(Mind the difference between capture and recording. The DVX100 offered genuine 24p capture from the CCDs, with pulldown added in the camera for the final 30i recording onto tape. NLEs could remove that pulldown, leaving you with genuine 24p footage. But the 150/170 offer no such option, only 60p capture for all recording modes.)
