Genlock or similar sync of HVX200

Any known way to sync 2 DVX100s which would likely be applicable to the HVX200? This is for doing 3D. There are devices for Sonys that make use of the L-Lanc controller.

Acording to the Panasonic presentaion at NAB you will be able to jam sync two HVXs via firewire cable. The will stay in sync if left connected but will probably drift a few frames a day if disconnected. This should work be fine for 3D since the camera would be right next to each other.

For framerate and shutter sync? That would likely require custom engineering.
Leave it to the experts.

Thanks all.

Evinsky, I assume "jam sync" does mean frame rate and shutters. Is that correct? In essence, as you stated, what I would need to do 3d? If so, this is very exciting to me. Do you know the origin or complete meaning of "jam sync"?

Thisiswells, I'm sure 21st Century 3D are very good at what they do, but I've actually been quoted an amazingly expensive rate for their work before. Thousands for a few hours work if I remember correctly.

Thanks again.

PS: I've done an little searching and it seems jam sync refers to Time Code synchronization. I don't believe it would sync the frame and field write. If this is true, then looks like customization would be the only course. Does anyone have a lead on a reputable shop to turn to?

It seems to me that if your timecode is in sync then so is your frame, no? You would have to sync before recording started but I believe as long as both cameras were set to manual and identical settings this would work. After all what good would timecode be if it were not frame accurate. This may just be my ignorance in camera engineering but it would be worth trying before you go having the cameras torn apart by a tech.
