general settings for multiple sources of video

so if you guys are going to use d90 video, and video from another digital camera that uses different fps etc, how do you handle that in premier's general settings? or do you just not do that?

i use the settings i want for output. usually i convert all footage to that before import, nle fps conversions often suck, scaling too.

what are you using for scaling?
Someone told me before that Premiere and the likes aren't doing a good job. I'm scaling with After Effects but I have no idea what algorithms it uses. Looking at Photoshop, there are different options for resampling, one specific for downscaling, but those options don't seem to be available in AE or the NLE's I use.
 
compressor or instant hd/resizer. i've also tried video enhancer but while the examples look awesome i never got very good results. for d90 footage i use my own upscaler followed by ihd.
