What does anyone know about the Gemini 4:4:4 as a recorder? They say it does 60p. Does that mean it will be able to record overcrank footage?

What codec(s) does it record at?

it can do 1080p/60p via dual link. 1080p/60p is too much bandwidth for a single link connection. it's not over cranked per say, you are actually getting the full 60p, at a 60 fps timebase. but if you drop it down to a slower timebase like 24p, it will be slow motion. similar to what the 7d does with 720p/60p

it records uncompressed.

Dear Friends,

I like to make certain that protential purchasers of our products fully understand any limitations.

Since this is in the AF100 forum, I would like to point out that the Gemini 4:4:4 cannot record 1080p60 from the AF100.

The AF100 cannot put out 1080p60 over single-link HD-SDI, thus the Gemini 4:4:4 can never see 1080p60 in order to record it.

As Tom pointed out one needs more bandwidth, such as Dual-Link HD-SDI or HD-SDI 3G to send 1080p60. These higher bandwidth versions of HD-SDI are not available on most cameras, and not available on the AF100.

I hope this helps.

Hi Dan,

Just wondering if the Sony NEX-FS100 will output overcrank/undercranking to the Gemini?

Also what is the release date and price point of the Gemini?
