Gearshift for HDV and Vegas

I am doing it now. i will tell you when i finish the project.
The problem is the render time when downconverting to DV. Around 24 hours on my AMD 1200 per hour of HDV.
But it is only around 4 hours on a P4 3.2

WHY?

Ouch. I don't know about Gearshift - but Cineform gives conversion times of about 150% on my humble machine (2.8 GHz P4 HT) and the files are edit-ready.

Well actually with gearshift, it is Vegas who is in charge of compression process. gearshift looks just as a script.

That’s correct; GearShift is a script and uses the Vegas engine for rendering. It’s primary purpose is to allow you to work with a DV proxy on PC’s that can’t handle HDV in real-time. So it’s perfect for slower PC’s. Then it lets you swap out the proxy for the real M2T file and do your final renders from the original source. You can swap back and forth all you want; giving you the speed of DV while editing and the quality of HD in the final render.
