Gear Bag recommendations

Aha! True. They do have their lesser known video series, which I have a couple of, that really beef up the protection and offer different form factors including for fully assembled kits:

Loos like a quality bag. Clever the way the sections accordion.

We are talking past each other a bit. I don’t fly for work these days. Haven’t in 5 years. The CineBags backpack is only used as a set-bag. It never holds the camera. Just lenses, batts, and some accessories.

The camera bags I own pretty much only transport from inside my home to my vehicle. All my shoots are out of my SUV. No public transport and I am most often parking on the location or very close by. The camera bag remains in the vehicle or at most rides atop a mag-liner a short distance.

Remembering KATA brought back another memory. Sometime in the 90’s there was a young woman I worked with who drew some designs for video production bags. She shared her idea and the response from others was that Porta Brace was so dominant and of such customer satisfaction that attempt to compete and cut into that monopoly was folly. I remember her being dejected, hurt. Some of the old veterans had scoffed and laughed at her thought. I myself thought it audacious and unlikely to succeed, but I was not completely closed to the proposition. I gave her feedback on some of the designs, we were supposed to collaborate further- which I was excited about because she was beautiful and smart and sexy- but shortly thereafter she ceased working there for reason I never learned.

I’m trying to remember the name she came up with for the brand. I want to say “Vid Gear”. She’d designed a vest with pockets and trousers she called “Vid Wear”. That I remember because I thought of it when first hearing of the brand “Set Wear”.

I don’t know if there is a point here other than liking hearing myself type. I guess the point is never say never. Defeatism is the enemy of entrepreneurialism. Had others been more encouraging and supportive of the young woman’s proposal, who knows. I might have been here raving about my VidGear backpack.

I have no idea if these are any good but it's an interesting concept so I thought I'd share: https://www.brightlinebags.com/

It seems like you can build your own bag by buying a variety of zip-on modules and zipping them all together.

Probably not useful for lenses/cameras but could be great for accessories

If they'd bring back the black camo version, I might actually get one... Or if they did a nuclear green/lime green. Or maybe even a cool dark green.

You might be in luck, a while ago they teased these limited edition versions, to be released at different times. So far they've done an orange, deviated slightly with a more standard yellow and are now doing the blue.

There may be hope for your nuclear/toxic green yet.

Oh yeah, that top middle green bag is banging. You couldn’t lose that if you tried.

I remember the yellow one from last year. I love that green, but the black digital camo would really be more my style for a backpack I’d actually carry. But who knows, if they drop that green, I may grab it.

Looks good to me. I don't have much need for a backpack these days. I find them critical for travel but don't really use them locally (will still definitely buy the purple CB25).

I just bought the k-tek hip pack and should be able to shoot all day without needing to carry any larger bags. I almost went down the 90s porta brace belt/hip pack path but needed something lower to work with the easyrig.

I'll have to pick up a signature blue waist pack at some point though!

Agreed, I got their lens bag on sale. Fortunately the largest, most glaring piece of branding was removable. Unfortunately, their logo was still embossed on the side. Really...kind of silly.
