Aha! True. They do have their lesser known video series, which I have a couple of, that really beef up the protection and offer different form factors including for fully assembled kits:

Loos like a quality bag. Clever the way the sections accordion.
We are talking past each other a bit. I don’t fly for work these days. Haven’t in 5 years. The CineBags backpack is only used as a set-bag. It never holds the camera. Just lenses, batts, and some accessories.
The camera bags I own pretty much only transport from inside my home to my vehicle. All my shoots are out of my SUV. No public transport and I am most often parking on the location or very close by. The camera bag remains in the vehicle or at most rides atop a mag-liner a short distance.

Remembering KATA brought back another memory. Sometime in the 90’s there was a young woman I worked with who drew some designs for video production bags. She shared her idea and the response from others was that Porta Brace was so dominant and of such customer satisfaction that attempt to compete and cut into that monopoly was folly. I remember her being dejected, hurt. Some of the old veterans had scoffed and laughed at her thought. I myself thought it audacious and unlikely to succeed, but I was not completely closed to the proposition. I gave her feedback on some of the designs, we were supposed to collaborate further- which I was excited about because she was beautiful and smart and sexy- but shortly thereafter she ceased working there for reason I never learned.
I’m trying to remember the name she came up with for the brand. I want to say “Vid Gear”. She’d designed a vest with pockets and trousers she called “Vid Wear”. That I remember because I thought of it when first hearing of the brand “Set Wear”.
I don’t know if there is a point here other than liking hearing myself type. I guess the point is never say never. Defeatism is the enemy of entrepreneurialism. Had others been more encouraging and supportive of the young woman’s proposal, who knows. I might have been here raving about my VidGear backpack.
