gamma difference?

The other day when I was filming greenscreen I connected my DVX to the computer for immediate capture and to a TV so that everyone could see what was happening.

The TV image looked much better than the DV captured image on my computer. The DV image was much darker. Why is this?

Need to calibrate your moniter. Search the forum... I have seen a few guides posted.

The computer monitor or the TV?
Which one is more accurate? I would imagine the DV stream would be, but why is it so dark?

Because computer monitors are darker than video monitors. Computer monitors aren't designed for displaying video properly.

Use a SMPTE color bar signal (the DVX can generate one) and calibrate your computer monitor and your TV to match, and you'll see the difference. But then your computer images won't look right...

oh ok. So what's recorded on tape more closely resembles the TV, right?
