There were statements made in the Game Over Panasonic thread making the assertion that most MFT users are not interested in RAW. Please take the poll and voice your opinion.

I voted don’t need but really want.

Need is a little strong. Specifically, I’d love one of the new quasi RAW formats like ProRes RAW or BMD’s. The ability to have such high quality footage that can be adjusted so much in post and dialed exactly to preference would be fantastic.

Personally, this sort of image flexibility to me is of greater value than constant sensor size or resolution increases. M43 being small and nimble means I tend to use it for times I need to be quick, light, and nimble - incidentally, also the times where RAW access could be a godsend!

Also voted don’t need/really want, but only if it’s ProRes Raw, BRaw, or similar, recorded internally.

Apart from people who just like making films and don't mind investing their own time and effort in post to get really polished results there are very few people who will choose a BM camera of a any sort to do a whole RAW project. Not out of snobbery or because you can't get "pro" results with these cameras but simply because a project like that automatically has a certain budget, you need DITs a gaffer crew and a post pipeline streamlined- you will therefore go with an established workflow, you want everyone to get to set and know the gear and the workflow since it will usually be a different mix of people. Everyone knows Arri, RED and Varicam, every focus puller knows Masterprimes, Cooks etc. Nobody wants to figure things out. And on a production like that the camera rental is a very small part of the overall budget so why risk anything?

As a long time RAW stills shooter, I just love the flexibility of RAW. It helps me delivery a consistent product in all kinds of different situations. I would prefer to have it. So I am leaning more towards "need".
