I just wanted to vent my frustration from a shoot over the weekend. Here we are, our big finale shootout! In between setups the gain switch got turned on in its highest position. In the husstle of getting the shot setup and ready to go, I failed to notice this for the remainder of the shoot(looked OK in the monitor). I did not notice it till I looked at my camera last night and saw the gain turned up. I reviewed the footage, and suprisingly it does not look that bad. There are a couple of shots in low light that suffer, but I might be able to reshoot those(with some trickery). I guess we had so much light in the rest of the scenes it kind of saved us by eliminating most grain(well some people add this in post). I tryed crushing the blacks and mids and got away most of the grain. Sheww! I just wish there was a warning light in the viewfinder when the gain is turned on(like the DVCPRO cams), to help eliminate this problem. Yes you should always check these things before shooting, but in a rush things happen. It is a good thing I can salvage this footage, because we are loosing the basment location it was shot in.
