Curious how different the g6 is to something like the gh2/gh3? Right now Im a canon t3i user and may buy a canon camcorder from a friend but Ive been itching to get a panasonic. Is the g6 as good as the gh2 was? I regret selling the gh1 that I had even though it was outdated.

For complex motion, the hacked GH2 is better, and the GH2 has settings for undercranking (lower frame rates). Otherwise, the G6 is simply everything you could want unless you need 4K or a truly professional camera. It has focus peaking, highlight flashing, a 3.5mm micrphone input, and bulit-in time lapse, plus all the features of the GH2. I have not used the GH3, but I considered it carefully when my GH2 was stolen. I decided on the G6 and have not a moment's regret. The kit 14-45 lens is a welcome surprise as well. It's reasonably sharp and AF is fast. Its only disadvantage is its poor maximum aperture of 3.5-5.6. Another factor is that the G6 is easy to hold steady if you cradle it in your hands at torso level.

The G6 is a very fine camera. Particularly with fast lenses like a 15mm f/1.7 or 25mm f/1.4. 1080-60p mp4 mode is simply superior to anything I've seen with a T3i or even a hacked GH2.

I switched from a T3i and a bunch of EF L lenses. Canon glass is amazing but the cams just aren't as versatile for the type of wildlife and action sports work I do.

I've now moved up to a GH4. It's just that much more but not necessarily over 3 times as good. Especially in 1080-60 and ETC mode. The G6 is simply amazing for this type of work if you have enough light.

And for my shameless plug, I have a G6 with kit lens and three batteries for sale from a while back in the classifieds here: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...K-14-42-MegaOIS-version-II-lens-575&highlight=

I just got a G6. My G6 even with the cheapo 14-42mm kit lens creates far better footage than my Magic Lantern t3i ever did with good glass. Besides a huge increase in sharpness and way way less moire the "look" of the G6 is very nice. It shares the same sensor as the GH2. The day I first tested my G6 the t3i went up for sale.
