G5 Dual 2.0 GHz with 6600LE underpowered

Anybody got a recommendation for a video card upgrade?

When I try to preview XDCAM EX footage in full screen, my G5 jitters and stutters enough to be totally distracting. I've got a Dell 2005FPW monitor, which runs at 1650x1080, but the downscaling isn't the problem, because I also hooked up a Samsung T240 HD, which runs at 1900x1200, so it has to be the video card.

So, in an effort to restore smooth motion, I've narrowed my problem down to the video card. There also might be a setting in Final Cut Pro for previewing All Frames downscaled or down-res, but I don't know where that would be.

Anybody got a G5 machine from that generation who knows of a good upgrade?

I was looking at the X800XT or 6800 Ultra.

OR, does anybody know if there's a way in Final Cut Pro to downscale a fullscreen preview for best performance?

I had a G5 2.7 Ghz with a 6800 Ultra that played back fine in 1920 x 1200 preview. Unfortunately the card died over the summer, so I no longer have it. The only used cards I can find are in the $600 to $700 range which is beyond my means for a several year old machine...
