G5 and Final Pro 4.1 supplemental Capture Card?

Never having edited with Final Cut Pro or on a G5 Mac, I am wondering about capture cards for the G5.

I see various things like this--Kona-SD 10 Bit Graphics and Video Editing Capture Card - Mac OS X .

For simply editing DVX100A output--24fps or 30 or 60--is my onboard Firewire more than acceptable for input?

I have a G5 and I can do what I need with what came with it.

The best way to capture DV25 footage (such as that from the DVX100) is via firewire. Thus, the onboard firewire ports on the G5 are perfectly fine.

The capture cards are used to capture other sources, such as SD (Standard Definition) or HD (High Definition). But to capture in these formats would only be useful if you had an acquisition tool (a camera for instance) that was capable of shooting in SD or HD resolution(s).
