G35 vs Blade

Any suggestion for a rail setup for the G35. I was told the Zacuto work well with it. But it is to far out of my price range. Any ideas?

ya that's my issue -- way out of my price range with the Zacuto set-up.
the Blade sounds like a good deal, just want to see more footage.

Baseplate setup:
I've designed the G35 to work with any adjustable baseplate setup. So really it all comes down what you value. function/fit and finish or price. I spoke with a customer yesterday who said he may just get a 1/8" piece of aluminum a wooden dowel and a 1/4-20 tripod stud. That will work. If you value price, than there are a number of options out there. I have used 2 cheap baseplate setups on different G35 demo shoots, both of them left me walking away with cut up knuckles. Not to mention the time it took me to actually get them set up while everyone was looking at me like I was wrestling a drunken octopus. After I was finished the camera was 4" off of the head and the setup still was funky.

Small plastic knobs, cheap set screws, poor powder coating/anodizing, haphazard design. All of these things make a baseplate a pain in the rear to use. I recommend Zacuto because I regularly use Arri baseplates and they are what I am used to. Zacuto's gets you as close as you can get to that quality at half the price with a lifetime warrantee. When we finish our baseplate design our price will probably be close to where Zacuto's is because quality machining and smart design is what I value.

It seems to be the goal for most newer "indie" camera equipment companies to race to $0. I didn't start making film gear because I thought the current tools out there were too expensive and that there should be an option for the hobbyist. I started doing this because there was no solution out there for what I wanted. I do my best to make the prices of my gear affordable, however I have been spoiled by working with gear that works, and unfortunately in order to manufacture high quality parts at relatively small quantities, its is not cheap. I am not going to advertise that I use stainless steel lens mounts & screws. That is a given.

Wow. I totally hi-jacked this thread. Sorry gang.

I respect your POV and approach to all of this in a massive way. Keep up the stellar work, Houser. (I like your last name, sorry.)

I personally don't think looking at someone else's work will help you make any decision. Looks that the G35 clip sat levels, contrast, blacks were definitely adjusted and the other clip has very poor lighting. I would look for test shots, camera split frame comparisons (at default, no post).

I found these two videos feat. both adapters. I must say I really like the look of both them. This is indeed making my decision much harder.

That is true, it's really difficult to get a feel for an adapter by footage online. Let me make it easier for you. Buy a G35. Try it out for a week. If for any reason you do not like it. Drop it in the mail and I will give you a refund. No questions asked.

Houser I normally make all of my own adapters, but have been really impressed with your product.

With the camera all the way open, how far can you stop a 50 mm F1.4 on the G35 down without seeing any grain, screen pattern (if you're using a screen), etc..

Actually now that I think about it, I think I read that you're using fiber screens, is this true ?

f8? With your nose pressed against the HD monitor. None of our customers have complained about grain. Again, if you have any issues with the unit I.E. Feels funny in the hands, not happy with the image it gives, sick of all the girls asking you about your lens adapter (my favorite problem) ;) Drop it in the mail for a refund. No problem.
