I made some tests today.
I wanted to evaluate how the betaG35 affected definition, color and composition in the camera.
Here are some "real life" samples of the tests done today. All frames have been graded to look as similar as possible.
Standard dvx100ae. / Sony FX1 (gamma adjusted)
DVX+betaG35+50mm f1.8 / FX1+betaG35+50mm f1.8
The most important answer that i got was that after CC, everything looks very similar. :]
Of course with 35mm lenses you get immediate cinematic feeling. The dvx has a cleaner and ligher gamma curve which i like more and looks filmic to me. But edges look videoish.
Still the extra resolution of FX plus a lot more color space makes it better when CC takes place.
So we can get a lot of conclusion by watching these. I was planning in editing a 10 minutes video with with all the tests and conclusions and releasing inside the SIMILO DVD
(if anybody finds it interesting, of course).
