G-raid Space Question ?

I couldn't really think of where to put this post, but here goes.

I just bought a 1TB G-raid drive and plugged everything in and noticed that I only have 931.22 GBs available.

What is taken up the 68.78 GBs ?


Do I need to reformat this thing ?
 
They should display this on the box, I would have bought bigger if I would have know that. :( I guess I can't complain, 1TB G-raid for under $290.00.



Another question I have is, stacking. I have a 500 GB and now the 1TB, and have a dual G5 with only one 800 port. I stuck 500 GB in the back of my G5 and the 1TB in the back of the 500 GB raid.

Is this ok or am I doing something wrong ?


Seems to work, both pop up on my desktop, but wanted to make sure.
 
not sure of your terminology "stuck ... in the back" but im going to guess you mean that youve connected one drive to the mac and the second drive to the first. and that's called daisy-chaining. and yes, that's typically how you connect multiple drives
 
Ha yea that's what I meant. Sorry I was writing that while I had a hungry crying baby in my arms.
