GH4 G-Cup - A custom eyecup for the GH4 and GH3

Have a look at the G-Cup, a custom eyecup for the GH4 and the GH3. This is a very simple silicone eyecup that is designed to block out light and provide a comfortable third point of contact. It works well, on my face anyway!

My partner and I created a similar eyecup for the Canon C100, and I've been hearing from GH4 users (and others) ever since. We decided to skip a Kickstarter and just get into it - so here it is! These are ready available to order right now at G-Cup (for the Panasonic GH3 & GH4) | Miller & Schneider and we will begin shipping with tomorrow's mail.

Please hit me with any questions, either here or @raddosilver on Twitter. I need to get the word out on these and any help there is appreciated! Good shooting!

That is expensive! The site I'm using automates the shipping fee, so your message is actually the first time I'm seeing that $47 figure. I think we should be able to get shipping to the EU down to under $25, although that still wouldn't include VAT or whatever other fees they hit you with. I'll dig into EU shipping right now, and update you with whatever I learn. Hopefully one day a reseller in the EU will return my call too.

I've just added a shipping category that will ship to the UK for $24.68. Still expensive, but until I get an EU-based reseller or a private jet, that's the best option I can offer. Thanks for the heads-up!

The silicon is flexible and comfortable, but sturdy without too much give. I wouldn't describe it as floppy. It makes a roughly 2.5" circle, which should naturally fit nearly any face without any force at all. It's designed so that you can push against it comfortably to create a third point of contact and block out light. I imagine there will be some reviews before long. Thanks!

I appreciate the tweak on the postage. I've just placed an order. Its a flaw in the camera so will be happy to have a nice eye cup. Been looking for one for my GH series cameras since the GH1 !!

I like it, anyone you know wear glasses? Interested to find out how that works. Also, this replaces the original cup, not over it, correct? Thanks

I do know people with glasses but haven't had a chance to test that yet. Glasses are tough because everyone has different lenses/frames, so it is tough to say. Definitely it is designed for full contact with a cheek.

That's correct, you slide the original off, and slide the G-Gup on. Thanks for checking it out!

Yes. The two come into contact with each other, but it's easy enough to open and close. I've sent some out for review, so hopefully some independent reviews will be coming shortly.

Thanks!

I'm desperate to get an eyecup for my gh2, if you think this could be adapted i'd order one in a heartbeat. Usually don't/can't use my LCD screen when shooting outside. If anyone has a good eyecup for a GH2 I'd appreciate knowing, thanks.

Hey Ned. I've been hearing a lot of that over the last couple days. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it is possible to adapt this one. This eyecup slides onto the camera in much the same way Panasonic's original eyepad does. The GH3 and the GH4 seem to be identical there, but the GH2 is quite different. It will require a whole new product, and we are currently busy working on something similar for the Sony a7.

Just received it and its great but it crops in a little of the viewing area where you have to press harder to get it to go away. Access to diopter dial and lcd opens. Sensor is not blocked. Finally.

Think there might be a way to "adapt" this to fit an RX10 II?

I don't know why, in the name of dogs, camera makers don't include these...it's so necessary.
