Other: FX9 demo footage and testing

In case anyone else is interested, I'll upload a few videos as I analyze the footage I shot with the FX9 Sony that loaned me last weekend.
Here's one test I'd love to hear what other people think before I reveal what the clips are. What do you like better, A, B, or C?

I think can you can download the ProRes HQ file if you want to get a better look.

Here's another one. Probably the last one for a couple of days, at least. Gotta get some regular work done.

A and C were about the same hue but my impression of A was very slightly too much exposure on girl #2. In C, there was more separation of her face/forehead from the wave in background.

Doug, the clip I see when I log in is the same clip shown in Barry Green's Panasonic DVX200 e-manual (scene files) published back in 2016. Is your link correct?

I have no idea why you'd be seeing some old video by Barry. Both of my links above are correct. I just tested them both, and it seems Tom also watched them both successfully.
They are on Vimeo not Youtube, and you have to use the passwords.

In your first Test1 A and C are the same camera so I would guess one is FX9 with Cinetone and one with S-log3+LUT and the one in the middle (B) being FS7.

I couldn't really discern any differences between them (apart from colour cast). B looked too magenta, and C looked too green. Not enough information to make a call one way or the other for me.

Just from viewing on an iPad pro. B is super magenta and C is super green. A is neutral.

Edit: When going to Vimeo and watching fullscreen 1 and 3 are very similar. Both with a small hint of green, but both more neutral than B

In the first test , I'm partial to B because frankly I like magenta, I think it makes colors pop though it may be a bit richer than real life. Its definitely the most saturated . I dislike C which feels flat and Greenish.A looks pretty natural but girl #2 on the left is overexposed,so in general its feels a little flat. Haven't checked the 2nd test yet .
However I find all these kinds of comparisons questionable because It assumes that we are all looking at them through perfectly set up monitors according to precise standards. But actually we're almost all looking at them through a home computer or even laptop computer monitors. So its all apples and oranges.

Or Apples and whatever computers people buy when they don't buy Apples... ; )

Test 1: A Looks best. B has the Sony Magenta cast. C, slightly green.

Test 2. A: FF ISO 800; B: FF ISO 4000; C: S35 ISO 800; D: S35 ISO 4000: E: FS7

I gotta say that I'm impressed with everyone's ability to deduce what you're looking at. Liam is almost right on, except both tests are in Custom Mode instead of CINE EI.

Test 1:

A FX9 S-Cinetone (the "venice" look)
B FS7 HG8
C FX9 HG8

Test 2:

A FX9 FF6K Lo Base HG8 0dB
B FX9 FF6K Hi Base HG8 0dB
C FX9 S354K Lo Base HG8 0db
D FX9 S354K Hi Base HG8 0db
E FS7 HG8 0dB

I'll have more to post later but now I've got more important things to do, like taking my grand daughter to Disney World.
