FX1E CF25 SD TEST footage

Hi Gang,

I have owned the FX1E for about a month, but I took a trip and didn't have time to test it until last weekend (not so sure you can call this a proper test though). I shot this by my self very very quickly to test the camera and the light (I plan to shoot in this space). My pc is falling to pieces and cannot handle Hd...so I had to downconvert on camera to be able to edit the footage in SD (to make things worst, my firewire stoped working and I had to make an analog capture). After I made some CC on after effects I had one more pleasent surprise...all compresion formats made my pc crash...the only format that held ALMOST to the end was a very very poorly compressed DVX/Xvid. You will probably wonder why the heck does the video suddenly ends...that was when I decided my pc was too evil to remain intact and I drove an axe into it (just kidding...the pc crashed again and it didn't work anymore). Oh, tech detail: shutter 1/50, CF25, f1.6, gain 0.

Finaly, feel free to enjoy this piece of crap while I go back to burning my pc and going to the store to buy a new decent one:

impresionante :)

I love this look, very good work. Do you use a magic bullet plugin or simply CC?

can you tell me the settings (+ or -) for to archive this look? do you use some filter in shooting or all the look was archieved in post?

thank you rawfa.

felicidades tío. ;)

Thanks for the kind words...but I really feel it could have looked a lot better (I could not even export in 16/9!). I truly feel that there is no point in having an HDV camera and not being able to edit in HDV. When I buy a new pc I'll try to upload some more decent footage. I usualy CC on after fx (gamma, contrast, a tiny bit of glow, saturation...and then I play with different layers). As for the camera settings (apart from the one I already posted), I didn't use cinetone or skindetail (I think that's how it's called?), the sharpness was at 8, all the other settings were pretty much default. I didn't use any on-camera filters. I'm really looking forward to shooting all the project I have right now and pushing the FX1 to the limit (I'll need a new pc first).

yes 16:9, HDV, new pc and more... but the video looks very good and your work is amazing. In the next february we´ll shoot a short film "cicatrices" I´ll be a DP and I´m a DVX guy so I have to learn a lot.
Best regards

For some reason when I watch this is pixelates like mad and looks f-ed up but the colours look nice. This is from an in camera downconvert? Not bad.

ok now it works but you can it's had the hell compressed out of it. some interesting angles and good cc, song was kind of scary thou lol
