FX1 Test Footage

Holy **** dude... I think we've found a winner in teh most cinematic look off an FX1. I came 'close' to that, but you nailed it!! I'm VERY impressed. How did you do that? That's exactly what i've been trying to achieve. Im guessing you did use a 35mm adapter.

AND you made that at 1920 x 1080?? The screen size wasn't that big when full screened on my monitor... Looked like a 720 x 480 size but it said 1080 in the properties. How long did that take to render?

I didn't use any 35mm filter (plain old FX1 zoom) but I AM looking into buying one. I used CF25 (european version). I tried a couple of magic bullet filters but I messed around with them to get my own look. I also messed around with contrast and gamma.

man that's just what I was onto. I shot in the ( us version ) CF 24, then messed with some magic bullet stuff, then deinterlace in my NLE. I'm very suprised how good PPRO 2.0 is at deinterlacing. I dont see any visible resolution loss.

The FX1 has a noticably shallower DOF, not a 35mm depth, but still better than my small VX2100 lens.
I guess I need to try more stuff. Did you use any black diffusion? ( or white )? Now i'm hyped to go out and shoot more today.

I didn't use any filters but I'm thinking about buying the Ultra Contrast, which is supposed to increase the cameras' latitude/shadow detail a little bit.

How does gamma work anyway? There are master pedistal levels, and gamma levels, and contrast... I guess I just play until I find something that looks good to me. haha
What were your render times? If I use magic bullet the render times are insane. If I use just regular contrast and gamma adjustment it doens't look nearly as good, but render times are fast.

Rawfa, mind posting some stills? I'm too lazy to wait for the entire video to download... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I don't know what is going on but aparently stickypod.com is being restructured. I tried to access my account there and an error apeared.

Oh, ok. I got it now. When you open the streaming video there's a place bellow it with small letters that says "This is a video, click on the thumbnail to download" and when you click it it asks if you want to download it..
