Fx1 + Ppro 1.5....

So, after reading a little bit on dvinfo.net, it seems to me that you need Aspect HD or similar to edit HDV in PPRO 1.5. Which is confusing me because with the HDV patch from Adobe Support, making your PPRO 1.5 into 1.5.1 says you can edit HDV footage. Is it possible to edit my HDV footage from the FX1 without an expensive plug-in?

PP2 (or 1.5 with the patch) in standalone form only allows you to start HDV projects at 180i 50, 1080i 60, and 720p 30. Aspect HD integrates into PP2 and gives you the following additional options: 720p 24, 720p 25, 1080p 24 (for both Sony and Canon's 24f features), 1080p 25, 1080p 30, 720p 50, and 720p 60.

On top of all that- you get better realtime performance using Cineform's codec within Premiere than you do editing off of native transport streams, and Cinform's codec will hold up better through multiple layers of compression than native HDV will.

So yes, you can edit fine with just the update/patch, but I hear that using Aspect HD render times will drop considerably and make things much easier, not to mention give you more options.
