hey there, footage looks great! I am only 14 so forgive my ignorance...what what exactly does de-interlacing footage do? versus if you leave it interlaced? I dont even know what that means.......thanks

Interlace is when you have two separate fields (Upper and Lower) that makes up each frame of your footage. Progressive footage means you have just one full frame. The problem with interlace is that during fast motions you can see interlace "teeth" where the two fields doesn't quite match up, which looks ugly. In progressive footage, this would just cause a more natural looking motion blur. Deinterlace footage to get rid of the two fields and make it progressive. The easiest way is to double every other resolution lines on the image. Problem is, doubling the lines threw away 50% of your image resolution.
