FX1 dynamic range and 24p ?

Hi,

I am impressed by the very low noise and the dynamic range of images i've seen from the FX1.

I dont see the "ugly" MPEG2 artifacts at all...

2 questions:

Is there a way to convert the 60i footage in true 24p (DVFILM etc...? ) without losing too much rez ?

Can we have a decent color correction in HDV ?

thanks

I'm curious what monitor you were viewing the FX1 footage on. The artifacts are very clear to me when viewing on a 23" lcd display and going frame by frame. It's not as obvious when viewing on a tube-hdtv or when at full motion. It actually looks quite passable in those situations. Up close, though, and on a HD lcd screen, it completely falls apart in between I-frames every 15 frames.

DVFilm does convert 60i to 24p, but I don't know if it does it very well. It certainly isn't "true 24p" in any way shape or form, though it might simulate a "faux 24p" reasonably well.

Color correction is subjective. A good camera with a good image wouldn't need much color correction. I generally use filters instead of color correction, even on DV. HDV has the same amount of color information as DV, spread in a slightly different pattern. That different pattern doesn't yield as nice of results, in my opinion, so I guess you could say that color correcting HDV would be slightly less impressive than DV. Hope this helps.
