Received FX1 footage to mix with F900 footage that has already been reverse telecined to 23.98 for off-line. How do I convert the FX1 footage to edit in the same 23.98 timeline? Nattress, Magic Bullet, DVFILM maker....workflow appreciated!
Nattress and DVFilm Maker are easy to use and both come with instructions on how to use it.
If you shoot in 1080i50 with the Z1, Graeme Nattress wrote up a workflow in Final Cut Pro 5 that I've used quite a bit. But you need to shoot in CineFrame 25 (no real visible quality loss at all).
1. Edit the 1080i50 footage with CF25 in an HDV 1080i50 timeline.
2. When finished, copy the edit into a new sequence with the settings in QuickTime Compressor set to Photojpeg with quality at 75% (8 bit, 4:2:2 uncompressed) or 100% (10 bit, 4:2:2 uncompressed). Make a QuickTime movie (NOT QT Conversion!!!!).
3. Import the QT Movie into Cinematools and conform to 23.98 fps.
4. Import the QT Movie that's 23.98 fps into a new sequence set to 23.98 fps and make the QT Compressor the same as #2, seen above. Remember, you can't convert Sony HDV to 24p, but this cool workflow allows you to change the HD codec.
